Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa (FMH) has partnered with the Food Bank of Iowa to raise funds for its COVID-19 Relief Challenge. FMH is matching contributions for every dollar donated up to $100,000, with the goal of providing 800,000 meals to the local community.
FMH’s mission is to support America’s farmers so they can feed the world, and through this fundraising campaign, its employees are joining in that mission to feed Iowans suffering from the disruption caused by COVID-19.
“COVID-19 has created unprecedented challenges and insecurities for everyone, among them food insecurity,” said FMH President and CEO Ron Rutledge. “With all of the worries in the world today, we at Farmers Mutual Hail want to help those who aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from, and we hope our $100,000 match challenge for the Food Bank of Iowa will take away at least a little of that worry.”
The Food Bank of Iowa is committed to providing safe access to nutrition and resources for those that are food insecure in the local community. Funds raised through this campaign will help the Food Bank of Iowa provide Emergency Food Packs that contain 20 pounds of shelf-stable items for distribution to area schools, agencies on aging, churches, and community partners.
“This generous matching gift opportunity from Farmers Mutual Hail will provide significant support to our ever-changing needs,” said Michelle Book, Food Bank of Iowa President and CEO. “We continue to see an increase in the need for food assistance and this gift not only makes an impact for Iowans in need, but it encourages others to join the fight as well. We couldn’t do our work without the support from our caring communities.”
